What We Do
Sutter Mutual Water Company, operated by the Basin Irrigation and Drainage Authority through a joint-powers authority, ensures landowners can continue agricultural operations in the Sutter Basin through water delivery and maintenance of infrastructure.
Water Delivery
Delivering water to 45,000 acres of privately owned land - predominately farmland -across the Sutter Basin. Our water is distributed through 200 miles of canals to aggregated lands during the spring and summer months.
Supporting Landowners
Sutter Mutual Water Company was created to ensure landowners in the Sutter Basin could continue to carry out economically, viable agronomical businesses with the confidence of a reliable water delivery system.
Long-term Viability
Sutter Mutual Water Company is dedicated to creating processes and building infrastructure that will ensure the long-term sustainability of the district.
Ensuring Efficiency
Sutter Mutual Water Company formed a Joint Powers Authority with Reclamation District 1500 in 2019 to bring labor forces from both organizations under one umbrella. That new entity is known as the Basin Irrigation and Drainage Authority.
